big bambu

mike and doug starn, artists, twins, and nj natives have been hard at work with their team of rock climbers constructing the cresting big bambu at the metropolitan museum of art.  part jungle gym, part interactive sculpture and completely sublime in its simple complexity, this installation is a must see.  the best part is that the mass will continue to grow and evolve as the artists add more and more bamboo to its cresting form until the close of the exhibit this fall .

the met doesn’t want camera’s (or anything else for that matter) to accompany visitors in the sculpture, which you can climb; this image was definitely not taken on the spiraling, elevated walk…
